Monterrey and San Luis Potosí in week two (LATAM 2019)
For me, visiting Monterrey always feels a little bit like coming home. I have so many memories here with people that I love and care about. Every time I visit, new memories, bonds and ideas are generated. I think a large part of that has to do with the circumstances under which I first arrived here. Yet, another is the reason for which I keep coming back each year. To see and grow the love for my tribe on this side of the world. Growing up I often felt lonely. In Monterrey I rarely have. This city and the people in it have taught me a lot about family, relationships,…

Pennsylvania, Mexico City and Monterrey in week one (LATAM 2019)
So, the day has finally come. The bags are packed, the engines revving and ready to take me to the airport. One last hug with Nala, a selfie with the roomie Barbora (to celebrate the glorious day) and I’m off! It’s not every day you get to start a 6 week trip around the US, Central- and Latin America. Sooo, I’m about to go on a 6 week trip through the US and Latin America. That being the case, I’m currently packing my trusty Burton Cadet tropical print 30-litre backpack. I chose this bag in particular, as one of the challenges I set myself for this journey was to travel light without any check in luggage. It was literally the only decent bag I could find to fit the smallest of carry on luggage…

Planning my 6-week trip to Latin America: The birth of an epic journey! (2019)
It’s funny, you know. As I think back on the last few months, I notice just how amazing the organic development of life can be. A little while ago, I posted an article on one of my life list items: Climbing Machu Picchu. It’s been one of the top items on my must-do list since 2012. It was a goal I set myself to complete this year – come what may. As I started looking into the logistics of the trip though, this one goal turned into something much bigger. Originally, I planned to meet up with some friends in New York to fly down to Peru and hike Machu…

My Life List: Travel to one new country for every year of my life
How it started Back in 2012, when I first created my bucket list over at Relocationjunkie.com, I had a dilemma. I wanted to grow old with grace, but I didn’t know exactly how. You see, at the age of 17 or 18 I had a dream. I don’t remember if it was a day time or night dream anymore, but I remember the imagery vividly. In the dream I was an old lady sitting in a rocking chair with 3-4 children sitting at my feet. The children looked up at me expectantly and said: “Nana, Nana – tell us a story! Tell us about the time you did _x_!” The…
