66 Days Without Social Media Challenge – Day 3

I’m starting to find this process of removing myself from social media and spending significant time alone with my own thoughts really useful.

Since I’ve been pondering questions on myself, where I am in life now, where I want to be in the future etc. daily, I am starting to figure out some answers for myself – day by day.

I definitely still have a lot to figure out, but I decided that today I really want to focus on envisioning and outlining what I think I want, so that I can start consciously prioritising and working towards those desired states.

Tony Robbins (I’m a huge fan!) is constantly challenging us to make our life a masterpiece, so I think it’s about time to take a look at what my own masterpiece could potentially look like!


66 Days Without Social Media Challenge – GOALS FOR DAY 3

  1. Read 3 Chapters of the 4-Hour Work Week
    • Why? It’s been a dream of mine for 11 years to eventually work 20 hours a week and spend the rest of my time working on projects outside work (i.e. volunteering, spending time on hobbies, travelling, family etc.). The 4-hour work week comes highly recommended by many as a source of inspiration and practical advice – let’s see what it brings!
  2. Map Out My Wheel of Life
    • Why? I took the Wheel of Life assessment using the Toolshero Excel template yesterday and found I have strengths and weaknesses in different areas. I also noticed I had never actually thought about what I want each area of my life to look like, so I think I will take this opportunity to envision my brightest future now!


66 Days Without Social Media Challenge – EXPERIENCES FROM DAY 3

Morning – I woke up with a revelation this morning – I know what I want (sort of)! After feeling so miserable with my thoughts yesterday and praying for an answer to some of my most fundamental questions in life, it seems I got exactly what I asked for. Usually I’d now go on Facebook to post some inspirational message and start asking my friends and various online groups for advice on how to proceed. Since social media is out of scope for now though I get creative… what are some other ways I could network these days? Are ICQ chat rooms still a thing?


Afternoon – I had two church friends visit and it was so wonderful to see them face to face. Due to sick leave I’ve been spending a lot of time solo and without Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram and such making me feel connected at every moment, the appreciation of actual visitors at my flat went up immensely!


Evening – I think it’s going to take a little longer than a day for me to complete the Wheel of Life exercise. I got a first draft down, listing top 5 visions for each category, but they seem a little unauthentic. A bit like I was writing down societal constructions of what ‘ideal’ in each category would look like instead of actually what I want.


66 Days Without Social Media Challenge – VERDICT FOR DAY 3

I feel like today was a day that opened up many different possibilities. It’s a bit as though I’ve come off a treadmill of routine everyday pilot mode thinking and then really started engaging in solid future building thoughts.

Being disconnected from the usual hustle and bustle and really thinking about what the future could look like isn’t the easiest exercise, but I think it really does give you perspective of what’s important and behaviours that may have crept into your daily routine that may not always be in line with your vision for the future.

I feel like my thoughts have been a lot deeper than usual – more introspective, detailed and meaningful somehow. It’s slightly uncomfortable, but then again… growth isn’t always comfortable, is it? 😉
